Two decades of industrial automation experience — from semiconductor fabs to commercial floors. We didn't stumble into robotics. We built our careers on it.

The Origin

Twenty years before we sold a single robot

Thean graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2004 with a Mechanical Engineering degree — and immediately dove into the deep end of industrial automation. His first job at MidMac Systems meant learning robot programming, PLC systems, and machine design from the ground up. Not theory. Real systems — Fanuc, Kawasaki, ABB, Kuka — that had to work every single shift.

From there, he joined Aetrium, where he spent five years designing gravity handler systems for some of the most demanding environments on the planet — semiconductor manufacturing floors at Texas Instruments, Maxim, and major chip makers worldwide. Every project ran the full cycle: concept, design, build, debug, and delivery. If a machine failed in that environment, it could halt a $10 million production line. You learn to build things right.

Thean returned to the automation and integrator world — first as a Senior Robotics Engineer, then rising to VP of Engineering. He led teams, set robotics strategy, and oversaw complex system integrations across mechanical, electrical, and process controls. The engineers were exceptional. Passionate people who stayed late solving impossible problems for clients, who genuinely cared about the craft. But when leadership stopped caring about the team and began treating brilliant engineers as dispensable — protecting only their own interests — it became clear that the right answer wasn't to fix that company. It was to build a better one.

In 2020, Thean founded Sproutmation on a simple belief: engineers who care about their work, and who care about their clients, deserve a company built around those values. Sproutmation exists because of that frustration — and because of that conviction. It shows in everything we do.

Our Purpose

Help our customers succeed in their own business

We exist to bring value and solve real problems — not to sell technology for technology's sake. Every recommendation we make starts with understanding your operation, your challenges, and what success looks like for you.

Our Mission

Industrial-grade automation for every facility — not just Fortune 500 warehouses

The gap between what's available to a semiconductor fab and what's available to a hospital, a hotel, or a school has always bothered us. They have the same operational challenges. They deserve the same solutions. Sproutmation closes that gap — making automation accessible to the organizations that need it most, not just the ones that can afford a custom engineering team.

What We Stand For

Our Values

🔍

Solve Problems First

Understand the customer's business before recommending technology. The right solution beats the flashiest one.

⚙️

Build Things Right

Engineering rigor over shortcuts. Industrial-grade reliability. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly.

🤝

Be There

Local support, in person, long-term partnership. We're not a vendor — we're your automation team.

🏗️

Own Our Future

Build our own IP and platforms so we're never dependent on a single vendor. Our sustainability is your reliability.

Earn Trust

Reputation is built one deployment at a time. We stand behind every system we put on your floor.

Why We're Different

Engineers first. Salespeople second.

🔧

We deploy, we don't just deliver

Every robot we sell gets a proper installation. We map your facility, set up the routes, train your team, and make sure the machine is actually cleaning — before we leave.

📐

Industrial standards in commercial spaces

We came up in semiconductor manufacturing, where downtime costs millions. We apply those same reliability principles to floor scrubbers. Overkill? Maybe. But your robot won't stop working at 2am.

🤝

We're still around after the sale

We're not a box-shipper. We do ongoing support, maintenance check-ins, and software updates. When something's wrong, you call us — not a call center.

Our Solutions

The full toolkit

Every product we carry was chosen because it solves a real problem — not because it looked good in a catalog.

🤖

CenoBots Autonomous Scrubbers

The L3, L4, L50 — compact to high-capacity floor scrubbers with AI navigation, LiDAR, and fleet management built in. Pick the right size for your space.

🧹

Artist 1 Hand Scrubber

For the spaces robots can't reach: restrooms, tight aisles, kitchens. Scrubs and vacuums in one pass. One-handed operation. 60 dB quiet enough for occupied spaces.

📊

RFM Fleet Management Software

Monitor all your robots from one dashboard. Track cleaning coverage, runtime, alerts, and maintenance schedules. Included free with every robot deployment.

Real Results

Dutchman's Store — by the numbers

One of our flagship deployments. A large-format retail and farm store that needed consistent, reliable floor cleaning across hundreds of thousands of square feet.

644,632
ft² cleaned / month
Consistent autonomous coverage
$5–6K
monthly labor savings
Reallocated to higher-value work
9–12 mo

Typical ROI timeline

The CenoBots L50 runs autonomously during off-hours, logging 345+ hours per month of cleaning time. Staff who used to push mops now focus on customer service. The robot handles floors. Humans handle people. That's how it should work.
